In the world of fitness, the dominant conversation revolves around weight loss. Social media, ads, and gym culture often push the message that smaller is better and that transformation always means getting leaner. But for many, that narrative doesn’t fit.
What’s often missing from the conversation is the experience of those who are trying to gain weight — whether for health, recovery, strength, or confidence. These individuals are frequently left in the shadows, their goals misunderstood or even dismissed.
As a personal trainer, I’ve worked with clients battling anorexia, bulimia, and long-term under-eating. For them, stepping into a gym isn't just about building muscle — it’s about rebuilding a relationship with food, with their bodies, and with movement. These journeys require compassion, patience, and a completely different approach to training and nutrition.
Wanting to gain weight can be just as emotional and difficult as wanting to lose it.
This can involve:
Learning to eat consistently again
Reclaiming strength and energy
Facing deep-rooted body image issues
Pushing back against a culture that glorifies thinness
Weight gain goals deserve just as much attention, support, and respect as any other fitness journey. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution in fitness — and that’s exactly why I approach every client with care, understanding and a commitment to their individual goals.
If you’re someone who’s been struggling to gain weight or feel unseen in traditional fitness spaces, know this:
You are not alone. You are not less. And your goals are valid.
I am here to support you, no matter what your goals so get in touch to find out how I can help you on your journey
